MY STYLE FIX: THE NYFW HIGH-WAIST

High-waisted trousers have got to be the eighth wonder of the world as it can make even the most gravity challenged person look 10 feet tall.

With such a perk, I had to wear these gam elongating pants during NYFW, even if it meant risking the very remote off chance of being mistaken for one of the statuesque models running around during Fashion Week.

MY STYLE FIX: GIRLY ROCKER FLARE

Wearing skirts and high heels doesn't mean that you're some dainty delicate flower whose favorite color is some variation of pink.

It only denotes that crossing your legs is a must, and that's only if you have qualms about showing your moneymaker to the world.

Nowadays skirts aren't just meant for those pink loving girly girls, whose lives are in shambles should they break a nail or lose a curl. 

When paired with relaxed, casual, masculine pieces, this feminine skirt would be something that even Joe Polniaczek would be proud to wear.

There's nothing worse than traveling in tight clothing, plunging into the ocean mid-flight and bursting into flames notwithstanding.

Wearing loose clothing like a sweatshirt dress can be the difference between spending hours on wedgie removal or sitting comfortably.

Flared out into an A-line silhouette, the skater skirt is the answer to the prayers of those of us with a little thunder in the thighs.   

 This classic staple is flattering thanks to a full skirt that acts as a shroud of darkness concealing the horror that lies beneath.

MY STYLE FIX: SUMMER ROCK & ROLL

Leather and denim are two of my favorite closet staples. When paired together they give off a rocker vibe sans the benefits of all the raunchy sex and mind numbing quaaludes.  

   Regrettably, depending on your predilection for frequent visits        to your gyno or rehab, those perks aren't included. Yet, that         omission doesn't make this pairing any less rock and roll, albeit     on the sober side.

MY STYLE FIX: EMBELLISHED DRESS

Happy Thursday! Believe it or not, I'm still riding high off of New York Fashion Week, even though it was well over a month ago. I had so many amazing experiences that would make any fashion lover just die, in my Rachel Zoe voice.

I mean, attending presentations in intimate settings where you're able to get up-close and personal to the designs, and literally reach out and touch the pieces was amazing, and so tempting, but not recommended, as they were attached to human beings who may have been less than receptive to the caresses of total strangers  who seemed more deranged, and less like the enthusiastic fashion lovers that they were. 

So, after slipping on a little dress paired with a denim vest and pumps, to attend the By Misha  SS/2013 collection presentation, I knew to keep my hands to myself, as not to be tossed out on my ass for overzealous groping or some sort of sexual harassment. 

I controlled myself and played it cool, but my bulging eyes, which honestly was in and of itself creepy, but by no means arrestable, told the story of my excitement to be among such beautiful designs with their intricate details and vibrant colors.    

I was like a kid in a candy store, and can you blame me. The proximity to the gorgeous live imagery of flowy chiffon and broccade in stunning shades, was intoxicating.  

As I walked around and soaked it all in at an appropriate distance away from the models of course, since I made every attempt not to further frightened the subjects by breeching their personal space, I was able to see the fine work of the designer Misha Vaidya, who I meet briefly and was able to congratulate on a job well done.

MY STYLE FIX: OVERSIZED DENIM VEST

Happy Hump Day! In this life, there's two times a woman should never wear white, and unless Mother Nature visited earlier than usual this month, I managed to avoid that bloody disaster.  

Unfortunately, I lost my mind, and against all rhyme and reason, I decided to wear white on the subway. Yeah...the same subway with the gonorrhea seats(see previous post), mystery odors that are very reminiscent of rotting flesh, and wet spots that one can only hope is just water.     

Even with knowing all that awaited me, I still wore the dress because of course in my mind, after scanning the millions of dresses in my closet,I had nothing to wear, and that one frock, out of all the dresses, was the only cute thing I had. The only one. 

Well, within less than a few minutes of boarding the train, I somehow managed to acquire a mystery stain right in the the front of my white dress, which clearly mortified me based on it's proximity to my who-who. I don't know what was in that substance, but I digress.

I was so panicked because I was on my way to a fashion event where I was quite sure a stained dress would not have been viewed as avant-garde.

But, as luck would have it, in Midtown, the streets are lined with so many clothing stores that as soon as I existed the subway I ran into the first store, headed straight for the sales rack, and selected this sequence dress and denim vest to replace my epic failure.

I proceeded to have my Clark Kent moment in the dressing room, and managed to show up to the event, skillfully rubbing shoulders with the likes of VH1's "Love & Hip Hop" star EmilyB as if nothing happened.

MY STYLE FIX: LACE & DENIM

Happy Monday! Over the weekend I went out and wore this short dress paired with a denim vest and pumps. I thought it was cute, but I immediately regretted it as soon my nearly bare ass cheeks came in contact with the petri dish that was my seat on the train.

The only thing separating me from whatever disgusting disease left behind by some outbreak monkey was the thin cotton layer of my Victoria's Secret. 

Fingers crossed Vickie's was built to combat biological warfare, because after all, it's NYC for heaven's sake. People here are walking around with all kinds of cooties, and my exposed backside was granting the little vermin easy access into my delicate immune system. 

At least in the cooler months this isn't an issue, because surely the gonorrhea left behind by the slutty chick previously occupying the seat wouldn't be able to penetrate the forcefield that is denim. 

However, this little lace number provided no such protection. So, if I go silent in a few days you'll know why.

MY STYLE FIX: DISTRESSED DENIM VEST

You know what, I'm not even going to complain, rant, or rave about the fact that this morning I woke up to a whopping, wait for it, 27 degrees. Nope, I'm not gonna go off into some profanity laced speech about how disrespectful Mother Nature is. Clearly, that's the case because this tundra like weather weeks into Spring is just rude. I mean, I can't even muster up the energy for the tirade that I really want to unleash mainly because I have to preserve all my energy to survive in this frigid weather.     

What I will do is look on the bright side. That good old silver lining (Screw face, Blank stare, AND Side Eye). Fashion has a way of changing perception and perspective. I know you know plenty of scenarios where you're like, "so what there's 3ft of snow outside, I get to wear my new knee high boots". Or, "I don't care that I just worked 12hrs I'm going to that party so that I can wear my new dress". It's so ridiculous, but still so true! For me I can savor the opportunity to wear some of my cold weather gear one last time. I can finally wear that sweater that I didn't get a chance to wear all Winter. All of a sudden, it doesn't matter that it's Spring and I still gotta bundle up like an Eskimo (Blank stare). It's perfectly fine. 

So, today I dug deep since I'm still high on all things floral and pastel, and I put together a look that will not have me at the mercy of the elements. I opted for layers since by the afternoon I probably won't need most of it. I started with a long sleeve floral dress (yes, floral. I did say that I was high on that trend. so, I still need my daily fix) and I paired it with an oversized sweater, a distressed denim vest, and knee high boots.  

It's a win win! Mother nature gets to carry on like the lunatic that she is, and I get to be a Spring Eskimo! Yes please! I hope you're enjoying your day and if it's cold where you are just look on the bright side!
